I was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at Michigan. It was the most incredible experience I have ever had in journalism. I was able to study anything I wanted (Shakespeare, poetry, film ...) while getting sent around the world (Argentina, Turkey, NYC) with the most incredible class of Fellows. We are a family now. I have been blessed. I'm telling all my friends about it. Some of them don't know what it is. Then they look on the Web site and say to me, "Wow." So I think I may be recruiting some of my writing heroes to the program.
Is that anything you'd be interested in? Only thing is, you can't work while you're there. But if you have a dream you'd like time and money ($55,000/eight months) to pursue it, you might consider it. Our director wants to find some internet types. Ron Parsons, who helped start Yahoo News, was in my class.
Hi, David.
You might not remember me. But I think I have you to thank for hiring me at the LJS. People still talk fondly of you. I'm sure that if I hadn't moved on to the Lincoln Journal Star, I never would have had the successes, including an amazing year as a Knight-Wallace Fellow, thanks to a culture of excellence I believe you and Kathy created, because it was so different from years before, when I'd worked at the Journal. So ... thanks.
Looks like you're doing some cool things now.
